In his spare time Collin enjoys hiking, running, and fishing the many waterways of Maryland. Micaela is a Master's graduate of the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Maryland. She joined the Neighborhood Design Center as a Landscape Design intern at the Prince George’s County office. Connecting people with place and enhancing access to quality green spaces are driving forces in her career aspirations. As a Maryland-native, she looks forward to bringing this passion to local communities and playing a part in uplifting their visions and ideas.
How we kickstart projects
Ms. Puzey began her post graduate career in Baltimore City in 2009, working with residents and communities to identify stormwater problems and site stormwater BMPs. In 2015, Dana joined NDC to oversee the organization’s urban forestry work in Prince George’s County. Her work evolved to include enterprise development for both offices and she served as an executive team member in the Enterprise Development Director role through 2022.

She was excited to intern at NDC in summer 2021 to continue learning about community-engaged design and using equitable design methods to help shape the built environment of our local communities! The Architecture and Community Planning team at the Neighborhood Design Center specializes in participatory architectural design, place-based arts initiatives, and planning. Our team of architects, designers, planners, and engagement specialists hold strong commitments to design excellence, social justice, and responsive plans that prioritize community power and increased local self-determination.

We prioritize bringing the right people to the project early and work to build actionable and inspirational documents that will guide the creation of just and equitable places. Whether working at the neighborhood scale, on a city street, or in a pocket park, our certified arborists support communities to leverage the many public health benefits of a healthy tree canopy. In 1993, NDC expanded outside of Baltimore, opening a second office in Prince George’s County to serve the older, lower-income communities surrounding Washington DC. The expansion of NDC allowed the organization to draw from a regional volunteer base—from Northern Virginia to suburban Baltimore—as well as assist various statewide initiatives. By providing the tools, expertise, and partnerships necessary to realize neighborhood visions, we support broad participation in the evolution of the built environment, positioning historically disinvested neighborhoods to attract future investment. We redirect resources to underserved areas because everyone deserves healthy, high-quality public spaces.
Our Process
Designed by architect Cesar Pelli, FAIA, the beautifully landscaped, 14-acre campus is located in the City of West Hollywood, CA. Pacific Design Center’s “Blue Whale” opened in 1975 at 750,000 square-feet. Realizing Pelli’s original vision, the Green Building followed in 1988 at 450,000 square-feet and, finally, the Red Building in 2012 at 400,000 square-feet, offering class A, creative office space for premier businesses, including entertainment, fashion, technology and the arts. Our environmental resilience planning team integrates Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater management, flood mitigation, and climate change to address community concerns. The Neighborhood Design Center leverages the experience of our full-time staff from different design fields to create a rich collaborative environment of interdisciplinary expertise. We employ student interns from The Ohio State University and provide real-world experience, where clients and interns work together to meet real budgets, deadlines, and design expectations.

From Young’s speech sprang a national call to action among architects, and nonprofit “design centers” opened in cities across the United States. Holding an architect license in the state of Maryland, Karla is developing the Arts Space Technical Assistance program at NDC. She offers guidance to local artists and arts groups in defining their spatial needs while also complying with life safety code. Her passion to uplift underserved communities began at Norwich University where she received her Masters of Architecture.
Arts for All Jazz Performance, noon - 1 p.m.Arts for All; School of Music Jazz Studies ProgramArts for All presents a performance by students with the School of Music's Jazz Studies program, led by Grammy Award-winning trombonist Mark Williams. The program is known for its refreshing blend of traditional and contemporary jazz styles. This meeting will wrap up the discussion of the design of a new community center in the Grove Hall section of Dorchester. Berō, pronounced “borough,” opened at the center’s entrance last December and has since offered an exclusive collection of luxury-style hoodies, cardigans, hats and more to die-hard fans.
Nicole comes to the Neighborhood Design Center from Baltimore Center Stage, where she managed fundraising operations across corporate, foundation, government, individual giving, and special events. Jennifer Goold joined the Neighborhood Design Center in 2012 after more than a decade of work in cultural resources management, historic preservation, development and planning. At NDC, she directs all aspects of the center’s operations including staff, programs, outreach, and fundraising.

Kelly Fleming, our Program Director of Environmental Resilience and Landscape Design, outlines ways that local government, communities, and individuals can enact change. NDC-designed publications, action guides, and recommended reading to help YOU make the neighborhood yours. Designed by Michael Graves, membership-only Pacific Design Fitness offers a wide range of state-of-the-art fitness equipment and a variety of classes, including boot camp and yoga, and is open to PDC designers and tenants. Maddy is our new AmeriCorps VISTA and is a designer focused on cultivating urban environments that promote health and well-being through creating and reinforcing future states of equity, justice, and sustainability. The goals of the architects were to use the projects as a community organizing tool, a means of advocating for urban development, and as a tool for increasing investment in Baltimore’s neighborhoods. Nicole Ringel is an artist and arts administrator with a passion for place-based art and design that activates civic engagement, amplifies community voices, and contributes to a strengthened social fabric for all. In Studio Art and Art History from McDaniel College and completed her M.F.A. in Intermedia and Digital Art at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where her thesis work focused on investigating layered social and ecological histories in public spaces.
After working on interdisciplinary projects ranging from city-wide discussions about Zurich's climate action plan, to neighborhood engagement on public greenspaces and mobility, she is excited to be on site in Baltimore working with and for community-initiated projects. Outside of work you'll find her biking somewhere with a cake strapped to her back rack. Angelica is a recent graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park.
